What is freight density, and how is it calculated?
Freight density measures how much a shipment weighs relative to the space it occupies. It is commonly expressed in pounds per cubic foot. The basic formula is:<br />
Density = Weight in pounds ÷ Cubic feet<br />
For example, a 500 lb shipment occupying 25 cubic feet has a density of 20 lb/ft³.
